Who we are

I am a second-year student at UCLA, pursuing a double degree in Labor Studies and Public Affairs with a minor in Chicano Studies. This blog is meant to share my perspective on the significant role childhood upbringing plays in shaping an individual’s future, and to discuss the impact of structure and habit in a child's life. My career interests has inspired me to focus on the importance of expanding social services in the U.S. and strengthening financial initiatives that support families in need. These are essential components in preventing others from being led down bad roads, particularly in environments where opportunities feel limited.

As someone who has experienced firsthand the struggles that come from growing up in low-income neighborhoods, I have come to understand how difficult it can be to see a way out when surrounded by such circumstances. It becomes easy to feel helpless when the system doesn't seem to support you or offer a way out. However, I strongly believe that social change is possible and that people can rise above the environments they are born into. This belief fuels my need to share these stories and assert the concept that you can be so much more than what you were initially given.

I want to demonstrate that it is possible to be more than your circumstances. Even when faced with difficult environments, people have the ability to change their path, and with the right social structures and support systems in place, they can do it!. This project serves as a testament to resilience, to inspire others to believe that they are capable of overcoming their traumas and being far greater than they ever could have imagined.
